El I Ching nació en China como un sistema para leer el cambio. Cada situación se representa con un hexagrama: seis líneas, enteras (yang) o partidas (yin), que se leen de abajo hacia arriba. Dos trigramas de tres líneas —Cielo, Tierra, Trueno, Agua, Montaña, Viento, Fuego y Lago— se combinan para formar las 64 figuras.

Cada hexagrama trae un dictamen (la respuesta), una imagen (la figura de la naturaleza que lo explica: el trueno dentro de la tierra, el viento sobre el agua) y seis textos de líneas. Al tirar las monedas, algunas líneas salen "móviles": son las que se leen, y al cambiarlas aparece el hexagrama futuro. En cada página de Código Áurico encontrás la tradición y, al lado, la lectura en lenguaje de hoy.

The I Ching was born in China as a system for reading change. Every situation is represented by a hexagram: six lines, solid (yang) or broken (yin), read from the bottom up. Two three-line trigrams — Heaven, Earth, Thunder, Water, Mountain, Wind, Fire and Lake — combine to form the 64 figures.

Each hexagram carries a judgment (the answer), an image (the figure from nature that explains it: thunder within the earth, wind over water) and six line texts. When you throw the coins, some lines come up "moving": those are the ones you read, and changing them reveals the future hexagram. Con tres monedas: cara vale 3 y cruz vale 2; se tiran seis veces y cada suma (6, 7, 8 o 9) es una línea, de abajo hacia arriba. El 6 y el 9 son líneas móviles. With three coins: heads counts 3 and tails 2; you throw six times and each sum (6, 7, 8 or 9) is a line, from the bottom up. 6 and 9 are moving lines. A moving line (a 6 or a 9 with the coins) is a line about to change from yin to yang or the reverse. You read its text and, once changed, the hexagram becomes another: the future hexagram, which describes where the situation is heading. With no moving lines, the answer is the whole present hexagram.
